As you can see presented in excellent condition is this Black dial Zenith Cosmograph Daytona reference 16520. This neo-vintage classic Rolex is in beautiful condition and comes with the very rare & sought after 'Patrizzi' Dial with the desirable brown coloured sub dials.
What makes this particular version with its Mark 4 dial rare and collectible is the discolouration of the sub dials which was caused by an organic lacquer/varnish called Zapon, which was found after its release to give insufficient coverage of the dial. This has caused the outer tracks of the sub dials to turn a brown colour over the years as it reacted with UV light. Also, this does not stop and the effects continue over time. This slight change in the finish leaves each one of the relative handful of these watches with a unique appearance. The Patrizzi dials are only found on black dials on watches from 1994 - 1996 with serial numbers S,W,T, this one being a T Serial from 1996.
These were coined the Patrizzi dials after Osvaldo Patrizzi, an Italian watchmaker, and founder of the auction house 'Antiquorum' who was the first to notice this discolouration.
The calibre 4030 chronometer movement is in superb condition and is keeping excellent time. This movement has been well cared for over the years and winds and sets smoothly.
The set comes complete with both tags and all original booklets, wallet, calendar and translation booklet. This watch still looks sharp with strong edges and crisp lines throughout the case, bezel and bracelet.
All our watches come with a Watch Register certificate to validate them from being lost, stolen or involved in any fraud.
