Mondia were establised in 1935 in Le Locle Switzerland by watchmaker Paul Wermot. The brand quickly become popular throughout Europe especially in Italy. The Brand become part of Zenith in 1970 and focused mainly on the mid-range market sector.
Inside the Top Second is a modified automatic A. Schild calibre 2063. Once the case back is removed and the hands and dial removed, you can see what makes the flashing dot run. The flashing effect is created by a bow-tie shaped rotor that makes a full rotation once every two seconds. (see http://thewatchspotblog.com/?p=2030 for more info).
The Mondia Top Second is a watch that is quite rare and hardly seen these days and this example is in very good clean condition as you can see from the images, apart from the small amount of scratches on the case and case back, for its year it's a very clean example that is in excellent working order.
